Neville MacDonald to leave Skin

It comes with great sadness that we have to announce that Neville MacDonald has left Skin with immediate effect.

He wished us to post the following statement:

“For deep, personal reasons, I have quit the band. Those closest to me fully understand my reasons and have been unswerving in their support; something I am truly grateful for.
To you, our fans, I extend my sincere apologies and, of course, my gratitude. Your support over the last few years has been nothing short of ‘overwhelming’ and I thank you so much for that.
I love you all,
Keep on rockin'”
– Nev

This means that all future Skin appearances have been cancelled which includes the Download Festival and the 20th Anniversary Tour. At this point there is no additional information but we will post if/as it comes in. For those who have bought tickets for upcoming gigs, please see your ticket agent for a full refund.

The Official Skin Website wishes Nev all the best for the future, and his service to rock magnificence over the past 20 years can never be forgotten. No doubt the decision is a difficult one and we would like to thank him for the music he helped create.

For Nev to leave skin must have been one of the hardest decisions he has made, thanks for the great songs Nev from kooga to skin, not going to be easy to replace that voice or personality in my opinion yet another truly great welsh vocalist who should have made it even bigger than he did. All the best for the future Mr Macdonald.

Although I was gutted at hearing this sad news my heart goes out to Nev, this must have been a hard decision to make, and one not taken lightly.. your voice and music will be treasured by all your fans for many years to come. My partner Marc and me came to see you in December at The Wulfrun in Wolverhampton and I will treasure that memory as it was the best concert I’ve ever been to.. so take care Nev, be happy in whatever you do next, and remember your music touched a lot of people and I for one will always be grateful that I had the chance to listen to you live… best wishes always xx

Wow since we frst saw SKIN at Wembley in 1994 on the night of 100 guitars me and the wife have followed the boys up and down the country no idea how many times we have seen them .THEY GUARANTEED A HAPPY ENERGETIC NIGHT whenever they played and I thought the Astoria was bad when they first called it a day but at least we sang our hearts out but today is worse as there is no one to laugh or cry with and cancelling the band b tonight was awful.Nev thanks for all the fantastic nights from sitting in THE NEWCASTLE MAYFAIR discussing the merits of chocolate flavoured beer to being at the aftershow party in LANCASTER GATE after the Astoria gig and me saying to you you had the best voice in rock since Paul Rodgers can I just say thank you you have been a big part of our lives and its been a privalage to meet such a bunch of people who are so genuine

Where do I start. From seeing them at Donny 94. To looking forward to Donny 13. Never missed a tour. Never forgot a tour or a great night out.
Free from the pain that’s making the world go insane

OoooooH! A sad, sad new. You are the soundtrack of my life since many years ago. And since my wife and I saw skin live at Nottingham 2 or 3 years ago we had hoped to see them again…
Nev, take care of you and yours, the only thing that matters.
Best wishes from your spanish fans!!!!

I’d just decided to try and make the Ponty gig tomorrow and arrived here to read this sad news. I saw you in Wolves last year and really was blown away by your voice Nev – better than ever. My friend Robert and I were your guests at a show at Birmingham Irish Centre back in 94/95. We were only teenagers and we thought this was just the coolest thing ever. Still remember it so well – Thanks Nev. Wishing all of you the best for the future. Abigail 🙂
