Summer of Gigs for Skin Alumni

Skin fans will have a chance to catch both Nev and Myke out on the road this summer.

First up we have Nev with his band Hand of Dimes supporting Brit-rock stalwarts Thunder at Caerphilly Castle on July 14.  Next the band are playing Stoke at Eleven on 11th August. Finally they are appearing alongside Skid Row and The Quireboys at the Stonedeaf Festival on 25th August at Newark Showground. Tickets still available for the latter, but unfortunately Thunder have long since sold out.

The Myke Gray band is also hitting the festivals with an appearance at this year’s Steelhouse Festival which is being headlined by Glenn Hughes and Myles Kennedy.  Tickets are still available for that one. Then he’s supporting Black Star Riders at the Southampton Engine rooms on November 29th and in Leamington Spa the following day. Head over to Myke’s site for more info.

No news is good news

Hi all and apologies for such a long radio silence. Truth be told, things are generally quiet a Skin HQ although the relevant components of Skin are doing well. Myke’s New album is going down a storm and he’s on the road. Nev and the Hand of Dimes are gigging and Andy seems busy pulling out old photos on Facebook. Dicki is still living the dream as a Californian Drummer to the Stars.

Meanwhile, we’re going to move this website to somewhere a little cheaper and a little more stable. Over the years we’ve been hacked more times than I can count and WordPress didn’t help. Regardless, we’re on the move so if there’s some downtime, you know why.

Best wishes!

Myke’s New Album

Myke Gray, song writer and lead guitarist of Skin will release his first solo album, ‘Shades of Gray’ this summer. The limited edition CD print run is limited to only 1000 copies and all pre-orders will be personally signed. Head on over to the new Myke Gray website (http://www.mykegray.rocks/) to order now for £10 plus postage.

You can also get exclusive news and updates, including footage of the album being recorded on Facebook.

Web Shop Downtime

The Skin Web Shop will be down for maintenance between 22:00 and 23:59 on 31st August 2010 while we move web servers. Sorry for any inconvinience.

Want To Be In Skin’s New Video?

Good news this weekend! Despite the delayed album, Skin will be releasing “Born To Rock and Roll” from the forthcoming album “Breaking The Silence” for free via this website. We’re working on making the song available for download this week so stay tuned for that. The other big bit of news is that to support the new album, Skin are making a new music video based on “Born To Rock…” and you can be in it!

The video must be PAL 25fps or NTSC 29.97fps (frames per second) and High Definition or Standard Def is fine. One entry of the song per person will be allowed (i.e. no multiple takes!). If you can only send in raw footage – submit it uncut and unedited. We’ll do the rest!

This site will have information on how to submit the video this week – we will make an ftp site available for uploading footage but the fine details are elusive right now…

UPDATE: Competition closed.

Album Release Delayed

Not the news we wanted to deliver but there has been a delay with the album release. The album is still with the printers but we should be expecting stock in mid-August. Once we have a confirmed date we’ll let you know but apologies to all – this is out of our hands but rest assured we hope the wait will be worth it in the end!

The Farewell Tour – A Message from Skin

Dear Skin Fans,

The first thing we would like to say is, a big thank to you for giving us 18 amazing months. Your support and loyalty has been overwhelming. When we were asked to get back together, to play at the Download festival, there was a certain amount of hesitancy before we all said yes. We asked questions like, “Will anyone remember us? Does anyone care about Skin’s music in 2010?”. Looking back now, it seems incredible that we ever doubted our decision to reunite.

Breaking The Silence
Skin - Breaking The Silence

The journey hasn’t been easy, as we all have full time jobs, families to look after, and many sacrifices have been made. The response from the fans has made it all worth it. The reunion concert at Download 2009 prompted the decision to make one final album, to say thank you to all the loyal Skins fans that have kept our music and memory alive. The profits from the acoustic album and DVD financed the recording of a new album, which is titled ‘Breaking the Silence’ (available for pre-order from our website www.skinfreak.co.uk).

To bring this incredible journey to a finale, we are playing a farewell tour in December. We have tried to get to most of the major parts of Britain. Availability and timing played a large part of our selection, and we are sorry if we are not coming to a town near you. The dates are as follows:

We plan to make this the best tour ever, and will be setting up a page on the website asking the fans what songs they want us to play on the tour.

Once again thank you for your support we could not do any of this without you.
Yours sincerely,

Andy, Dicki, Myke and Nev
